ΑΙΓ is more than just a healthcare fraternity. Our four core pillars—academic, professional, service, and social—convey the multi-faceted purpose of ΑΙΓ.
Academic
Healthcare is extremely complex; within this one field, there are many different opportunities and career paths available. This core pillar serves to inform the Brotherhood of these different sectors of healthcare in an effort to spark greater academic curiosity and interest.
Another goal of this pillar is to help the Brotherhood be as academically successful as possible.
Professional
Developing strong professional skills is vital for success in almost every career. While many Brothers do decide to go to medical school after their undergraduate studies, they, too, still need strong communication and organizational skills. The professional pillar’s focus is to build up these professional skills, along with developing a robust network between employers and ΑΙΓ to help Brothers secure competitive internships and jobs.
Service
Giving back to the community is another core goal of ΑΙΓ: the ΑΙΓ Brothers should not only improve themselves through the academic and professional lenses, but should also grow their sense of altruism and generosity. Brothers frequently visit various parts of St. Louis to volunteer in a breadth of activities, including working at food pantries and shelters. Moreover, ΑΙΓ emphasizes providing services on campus as well, such as volunteering at blood drives.
ΑΙΓ’s support of the International Medical Corps—an organization that provides disaster relief and medical supplies to countries across the globe—as our primary philanthropy donee—also speaks to ΑΙΓ’s commitment to service.
BROTHERHOOD
The Brotherhood should be an intimate community of like-minded individuals. The purpose of the social pillar is to ensure that the Brotherhood remains close, even as members leave and join the fraternity.
The fraternity also realizes the importance of interacting with other clubs and pre-professional fraternities on campus as a way to further cement ΑΙΓ into the campus community.
