Since 2017, the WashU ΑΙΓ chapter has connected pre-health students across the undergraduate divisions.

Our Mission

Alpha Iota Gamma serves as a foundation for professional growth among students dedicated to forging careers in healthcare. The brotherhood instills in its members the fundamental ethics that competence in human care demands. Through a commitment to discipline, compassion, and integrity, Alpha Iota Gamma strives to help develop the next generation of leaders in the field of health care.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

  • We view diversity as everything that makes us different. We seek to ensure a diverse and inclusive community where members experience a sense of respect and belongingness. We desire to ensure diversity in membership, thoughts, and aspirations.

Being diverse includes having a broad definition of healthcare and health-related systems. Members are expected to be interested in, learn about and explore a wide range of health care careers that impact diverse populations.

  • Diversity includes the range of human differences but is not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, cognitive abilities, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs.

We support open dialogue where different perspectives are valued and the inherent worth and dignity of all people are recognized. We promote a sense of belonging and respect for the talents, beliefs, abilities, backgrounds, and ways of living of our members.

  • AIR is committed to making the goal of creating an open and engaged culture where diversity, inclusion, and equity are valued by:

Advocating for respect, inclusivity, equity, and appreciation of differences within our Diversity and Inclusion Chair, recruiting, and 4 pillars.

Sharing knowledge and expertise related to open conversations and creating a welcoming environment.

Majors

WHAT DOES PRE-HEALTH MEAN?

Pre-health is a broad pre-professional term that denotes an interest in a health-related career path. Pre-health includes many different professional and academic interests, including pre-med, pre-dental, pre-vet, nursing, research, healthcare management, public policy, healthcare consulting, and more.

Our Chapter prides itself in being academically diverse. Because there is no “Pre-Health” or “Healthcare” major, there is a large variety of majors that ΑΙΓ brothers choose to pursue. Biology, Psychology, Healthcare Management, Political Science, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer Science are just some of the many majors that current brothers have declared.
